Job description
This is a permanent, full-time, 9 month position.
The basic purpose of work performed by the incumbent is to interpret and transliterate English and American Sign Language between students, staff, faculty, visitors, and other campus community members.
Job requirements:
Incumbent must hold a Bachelor’s degree, and be registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. In accordance with PA Act 57 of 2004, interpreters must register with the Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH).
Applicants who possess provisional registration with Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will be considered. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the NAD-RID National Interpreter Certification (NIC) Knowledge Test, documentation of successful completion of the certification test, as well as documentation of non-provisional state registration with the Pennsylvania Office for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (ODHH).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
A minimum of two years interpreting experience in a variety of settings using a variety of communication modes required.
