September Business After Hours - Bloomsburg Public Library

September Business After Hours - Bloomsburg Public Library

Wednesday, September 18, 2019 (4:30 PM - 6:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Bloomsburg Public Library is celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2019, one of only a few organizations in the area that can boast continuous operation for that long, and it would like its fellow Chamber members to share in that celebration and get to know it again as it hosts September's Business After Hours. Enjoy some beer, wine, appetizers and mini desserts prepared with great care and dedication by Library staff and board members while you learn about the value of the library to the community, not only in terms of literacy and learning but also the financial impact. Also have a chance to meet new youth services librarian Angela Musselman-Leister, who in just six months has energized the library's children's programs.

September is also Library Card Sign Up month, a nationwide event supported by the American Library Association aimed at promoting literacy, so if you don't already have one, you can sign up for a library card at the event as well. A library card is a valuable "passport" to free materials, including books for pleasure reading or research, DVDs, audio books, e-books, many digital resources, and "Internet to Go." Too busy to get to the library? You can access free books and audiobooks through an app. The library also lends mobile hotspots. The library also has a community room that can seat up to 45 people - ideal for meetings or presentations if you need a space.
