Unemployment Compensation Seminar on Separation Issues

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM) (EDT)

Description

PA CareerLink Columbia/Montour Counties and the Columbia Montour Chamber co-sponsor this seminar on unemployment compensation (UC) and separation issues. This seminar will explain the process the UC Service Center follows when investigating and issuing determinations relating to quits and discharges including:

• Explaining the fact-finding process
• How the UC Service Center rules without fact-finding information from a party
• What factors determine if a separation is a “quit” or a “discharge”
• What determines “burden of proof”
• How certain exceptions under the Federal Trade Readjustment Act are factored into determinations
• What additional steps are available if there is a disagreement with the determination

There are times the UC program seems confusing, so be sure to bring us any questions or concerns you have. We hope this seminar, along with a chance to hear issues other employers are experiencing, can help your business better understand the UC program.
